**Rumours continue to swirl regarding Arne Slot’s future as Liverpool’s head coach, with journalist Ben Jacobs now providing a key new update.**
FSG have a huge decision to make this summer, with Slot’s struggles eerily similar to Brendan Rodgers’ at the end of the 2014/15, prior to eventually being replaced by Jurgen Klopp in the autumn of 2015.
Speaking to [_Give Me Sport_](https://www.givemesport.com/arne-slot-liverpool-sack-update-emerges-fsg-plan/), Jacobs claimed that the Dutchman remains safe in his job for the time being, with those high up at the club trusting him for now:
_“I don’t even think this narrative of Liverpool reassessing in the summer necessarily has that much credence regarding Arne Slot’s future._
_“The position, speaking to Liverpool sources, is clear and has been for quite some time, that Liverpool and FSG back Arne Slot and they’ve got a big summer ahead, and this idea that they’re going to have a review at the end of the season and may U-turn on that position is downplayed by sources._
_“What now can change between today and the end of the season? Liverpool are highly likely to get Champions League football, that’s the best they can do, and it’s been clear for quite some time, so any review doesn’t need to wait until the summer._
_“There’s ongoing dialogue and feedback, and Arne Slot is part of the summer planning, and it’ll be a huge U-turn, an unexpected situation, if FSG and Liverpool’s leadership team suddenly get to the summer and go, now the season’s ended, we’ve got a different perspective.”_
**Arne Slot must make flying start to next season at Liverpool**
----------------------------------------------------------------
Every update of this ilk is likely to cause frustration among plenty of Liverpool fans, who feel that Slot needs to be sacked after such a galling season, with Champions League qualification not enough to save him.
This summer is vital in terms of signing the right players, and if a flying start isn’t made to next season, it won’t take much for things to turn ugly towards the Dutchman.
There is a huge risk in Liverpool sticking with Slot, even though he should always be lauded for winning the Premier League last season, and the hope is that FSG’s patience pays off. Showing faith in him is admirable in some ways, but also a big gamble.
That said, these are still only reports, and it hasn’t yet been confirmed that Slot is staying, and for many, a change in the dugout before August is a must.
