Arsenal can no longer win the Premier League title on home soil when they face Burnley on Monday night, after Manchester City overcame Crystal Palace at the Etihad on Wednesday.
The Gunners know that victories over Burnley and Palace will see them crowned champions, although they’d have hoped their lives would have been made slightly easier before their game against the Clarets.
City comfortably beat a rotated Eagles side, however, and the title race is now likely to go the distance. That said, Arsenal know that if they can beat Burnley, the Citizens will head to the south coast to face Bournemouth on Tuesday, merely fighting to remain in the mix.
With that said, here is the latest Arsenal news today, including updates on City’s win over Palace, Jurrien Timber and Paris Saint-Germain.
Manchester City beat Crystal Palace to pile pressure on Arsenal
City comfortably strolled to a 3-0 victory over Palace at the Etihad on Wednesday night. Goals from Antoine Semenyo, Omar Marmoush and Savinho saw off the Eagles, in what was a largely routine night for Pep Guardiola’s men.
Interestingly, both Guardiola and Oliver Glasner made several changes. Erling Haaland, Rayan Cherki and Jeremy Doku were all left on the bench for City, while Palace didn’t start Adam Wharton or Ismaila Sarr.
For the away team, this rotation was entirely expected, given that Glasner is gearing up for the Conference League final in two weeks’ time. For City, however, these changes were unexpected and possibly point to Guardiola accepting that his team is unlikely to win the league and is now prioritising this Saturday’s FA Cup final.
The result sees the gap between Arsenal and the Manchester club cut to just two points, putting pressure on the Gunners heading into their encounter with Burnley.
Jurrien Timber fighting to be fit for Champions League final
Arsenal may have a right-back dilemma heading into the Champions League final at the end of the month. Ben White has been ruled out for the season after sustaining a knee injury away at West Ham on Sunday, while Jurrien Timber still isn’t fit.
However, Arteta provided a positive update regarding Timber’s fitness situation in his press conference on Thursday morning. The Spaniard revealed that the Dutchman has a chance of featuring in the final in Budapest.
Arteta confirms that they’re gonna try to get Jurrien Timber fit for Champions League final. He’s trying and stepping up work.

“He wanted to be very close to the team,” he said.
“He’s progressed a little bit in the last few days. He’s feeling better. We’re going to try to get him available as quick as possible. But he’s obviously been out now for a while, unfortunately.
“He’s such an important player for us. We all know that. And he’s doing everything that he possibly can to help the team in any capacity. And I don’t know, his leadership, his quality and how much the team needs him. He’s trying everything that he can.
“There is a chance [he plays in the final]. But how big that chance is, I cannot tell you. I’m being completely honest. He’s going to try to do everything he can to convert that chance as high as possible in the shortest possible period. And that’s the challenge ahead.”
Paris Saint-Germain win Ligue 1 ahead of Budapest showdown
PSG await Arsenal in the Champions League final in Budapest at the end of the month, in what will be one of the biggest matches in the history of the North London club. The Gunners will need to be at their best to contain an explosive PSG attack, brimming with confidence after their latest triumph.
Luis Enrique’s team wrapped up the Ligue 1 title on Wednesday night by beating Lens 2-0 at Stade Bollaert-Delelis. Goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ibrahim Mbaye saw off the title contenders, securing PSG their 14th French title.
While the Parisians winning this honour always felt like a forgone conclusion, it took them until the penultimate match of the season to do so. Enrique has largely used the domestic fixtures to blood youngsters, resting key players to preserve them for the Champions League, which should concern Arsenal heading into the final.
