**Unai Emery has branded Harvey Elliott’s loan move as ’embarrassing for everyone’.**
Elliott joined Aston Villa on last summer’s transfer deadline day in a move which would become permanent once he made 10 Premier League appearances.
But the England under-21 international has been involved just 11 times for the Villans overall to date with only five of them being top-flight involvement.
Emery previously [called on Liverpool to change the terms of the loan](https://www.clickliverpool.com/sport/liverpool-fc/63570-unai-emery-urges-liverpool-to-change-harvey-elliott-deal/) due to the terms complicating his ability to play Elliott without triggering his £35 million clause.
Ahead of the sides’ latest meeting, Arne Slot confirmed that the 23-year-old would be involved in pre-season after the deal ‘didn’t work as out as we wanted it’.
His Villa counterpart has now weighed into the situation and lamented the situation.
“To now explain about the reason for this decision is very difficult, or it is easy, but it is not the moment,” said Emery.
“Of course, it’s something embarrassing for everyone involved. My apologies to Harvey Elliott are every day in my mind.
” But it is \[about\] responsibility. We have our responsibility and Liverpool have their responsibility, as a human and a person.
“How the season is going for him, it is difficult.”
