Arsenal have officially launched their new home shirt for the 2026/27 season, the eighth produced by adidas since the German manufacturer returned as the club’s kit supplier in 2019.
When the non-negotiables are a red body and white sleeves, there is always a temptation to experiment with the finer details and, unfortunately, it feels like adidas may have overthought this one a little.
The two-tone maroon and red adidas stripes are just about passable, even if they carry more than a hint of Manchester United about them, but the collar and sleeve cuffs are where things start to unravel. Featuring a jagged red pattern on maroon, both elements feel unnecessarily busy, to the point of being outright ugly.
Perhaps because so much attention has gone into those details, the rest of the shirt feels surprisingly plain. The red body is completely flat, with no underlying pattern or texture, while the adidas logo, Emirates sponsor and Arsenal crest are all rendered in monotone white. New sleeve sponsor Deel, the American HR platform, appears in red on the arm.
Maybe the addition of a star above the badge in the near future would improve things (😉), but right now, though, this feels like one of adidas’ weaker Arsenal efforts.
