Gunners join race for Mateus Fernandes
The Times report Arsenal are amongst several clubs expressing interest in West Ham star Mateus Fernandes. Gunners supporters will recognise the Portuguese midfielder, who squandered a gilt-edged opportunity to put the Hammers in front when they met on Sunday, reports the Mirror.
Fernandes only joined the London Stadium last summer from relegated Southampton but has made a tremendous impression. The report suggests that PSG are keen and other English sides including Manchester United have been connected with him.
Significantly, it is claimed that West Ham are reluctant to part with Fernandes and will strive to avoid doing so provided they stay in the Premier League. Nevertheless, should they drop down, they allegedly will have limited options in the situation.

City maintained the heat on the league frontrunners when they met Palace on Wednesday evening, emerging as emphatic 3-0 victors to ensure that the title cannot be secured on Monday.
Oliver Glasner's outfit will host Arsenal on the final day and it appeared that following the encounter at the Etihad, Pep Guardiola had some remarks for the players who could assist his team in wrestling away the league crown.
Cameras captured Guardiola making his way around the Palace squad after the final whistle. Pundits on Sky Sports suggested he was offering them guidance for their concluding fixture against Arsenal.

The Spaniard seemed to chat with Chris Richards, Jefferson Lerma, Maxence Lacroix and Adam Wharton.
When questioned about the title race afterwards, he responded: "It depends on them [Arsenal]. If they win two games, nothing to do, nothing to talk. All we can be is in there just in case. The last two games are tough."
