Arsenal V Burnley Injury News: 3 Doubts And 4 Players Ruled Out

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says Riccardo Calafiori is a doubt to face Burnley on Monday night.

The Italian international had to be withdrawn at halftime during the 1-0 win over West Ham last weekend, and asked for an update on the player’s fitness, Arteta said:

“We don’t know whether he is going to be available or not [for the Burnley game].”

“Hopefully it’s nothing serious, but we’ll have to wait and see how he reacts to that.”

Other Arsenal injury news

There are currently four members of the first-team squad on the sidelines, including Calafiori. Jurrien Timber has been out since mid-March with a groin problem, but Arteta has hinted that the fullback is getting closer to making his comeback:

“He’s progressed a bit in the last few days… We’re going to try to get him fit and available as quick as possible. Let’s see.”

“Obviously, he’s been out a while, unfortunately. He’s such an important player for us, and he’s doing everything that he possibly can to help the team in any capacity.”

Timber’s fellow right-back Ben White, meanwhile, has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury he sustained in the first half against West Ham, following a challenge on Crysencio Summerville.

Mikel Merino is also unlikely to play again this campaign, as he continues to step up his recovery from the foot surgery he underwent in February.

Burnley injury news

Clarets’ interim manager Michael Jackson has confirmed that midfielder Hannibal Mejbri will have a late fitness test before the trip to the Emirates. The Tunisian picked up a knock during the 2-2 draw against Aston Villa.

Josh Cullen (knee) and Jordan Beyer (hamstring) are long-term absentees, and they will not be in contention for Monday’s fixture.
