West Ham United say they ejected 51 Arsenal supporters attempting to access areas of the London Olympic Stadium reserved for home fans during Sunday's London derby.

And in addition to the turnstile ejections, the club claimed they blocked a further 1,300 ticket sales to visiting fans, having checked over 8,000 individual sales.

"We would like to reassure supporters that we take any incidents extremely seriously and our priority is always the safety and security of everyone attending a West Ham United match," read a statement published on the club's website on Friday morning.

"Because of the hard work of our teams ahead of Sunday, 51 fans were ejected from the stadium or denied entry on Sunday (compared to 65 last season).

"We would like to apologise to any supporters who witnessed any anti-social behaviour on matchday, either in person or subsequently on social media. The club is committed to providing a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment for everyone who attends our matches and investigates each incident in full."

And the club also issued an ominous warning to any West Ham United season ticket holder considering selling their ticket outside of the club's ticket forwarding scheme or controversial ticket exchange platform.

"Home tickets should only be transferred through West Ham United’s official channels," it read, adding: "Tickets should not be sold via third party ticketing platforms or other websites. These offences can carry up to an indefinite ban."

Meanwhile West Ham confirmed similar measures would be in place for the visit of Leeds United on the final day of the Premier League season, while asking fans to get to the stadium as early as possible to prevent possible ingress delays.

"We would once again kindly ask supporters to arrive at the match early as there will be additional security checks at the turnstiles," confirmed the club. "Please also note that the National Threat Level has moved to SEVERE which means a terrorism attack is highly likely, therefore be prepared for enhanced security measures."
