Liverpool are reportedly reluctant to pay RB Leipzig the money they're demanding for highly rated winger Yan Diomande, hinting the Reds will look elsewhere to bolster their forward line this summer.

The Daily Mail claims Liverpool are hesitant to pay the release clause, reportedly in the region of £85million. It's claimed his output in the final third isn't impressive enough to justify paying such a fee.

Diomande signed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga side after Leipzig triggered the €20m release clause in his contract with Spanish second tier side Leganes.

The Ivorian has impressed since making the step up in Germany, with 12 goals and eight assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances this season from left-wing.

Arne Slot was criticised for saying his side couldn't call upon a winger like Jacob Murphy who acted as the perfect provider for Alexander Isak during his purple patch at Newcastle United, but the message looks to have got through to the Liverpool hierarchy.

The i claims Liverpool have £75m to spend on a left-winger this summer, in order to get the best out of striker Isak.

The Swede has struggled with injuries since his British transfer record move to Anfield from Newcastle, with just three goals and one assist in 14 Premier League appearances.

While that report shares conflicting information on Diomande, claiming Liverpool are willing to spend £75m on the Ivorian, it also hints at the club looking at other potential targets.

PSG's Bradley Barcola and fellow Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa are listed as potential targets for the Reds.

Liverpool have also been linked with Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon, who is being tipped for a move away from St. James' Park with the Magpies set to miss out on European football.

The England international is said to be open to a move away from Newcastle in order to pursue a fresh challenge, with Barcelona and Bayern Munich interested in signing the 25-year-old.

Gordon was heavily linked with a return to Merseyside last summer, but opted to stay at St. James' Park for their Champions League campaign.

Vincent Kompany's Bayern are pushing to sign Gordon this summer, with talks already underway between his entourage and the German club.

However, Newcastle are holding out for a fee in the region of £85m, which could act as a roadblock ahead of a potential move to Germany, with Bayern reluctant to pay more than £61m.
