As the summer transfer window edges closer, Liverpool are entering what could be one of their most significant periods of squad rebuilding in years.
The confirmed departures of Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson have left Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes with serious business to attend to, and that is before accounting for the long-term absence of Hugo Ekitike, who tore his Achilles tendon and may not feature again until 2027.
Reports suggest the Reds are targeting at least two new wingers this summer, with reinforcing the wide areas firmly at the top of the agenda. Against that backdrop, it appears Liverpool’s recruitment team has been busy in South America.
Brazilian journalist and ESPN Brazil reporter André Hernan has revealed that Liverpool have submitted a fresh enquiry for Palmeiras winger Allan Elias, with the 22-year-old firmly on the club’s radar heading into the summer. Hernan said (as translated by the Hard Tackle):
“It is not new that Liverpool want Allan. The market is starting to open and there are already enquiries and approaches regarding the player. Palmeiras will have to be very strong, because clubs will come hard for him.”
He continued: “He is a player very desired by the European market. Palmeiras play hard in every sense, whether the contact comes from clubs or through the player’s representatives. It will be a decision for the presidency and the board, because the market will be strong and Allan will receive proposals and a lot of interest in this window.”
It’s far from the first time the Reds have been linked to the 22-year-old.
So who exactly is Allan Elias? Born in 2004, the left-footed forward came through the youth ranks at Figueirense before making the jump to Palmeiras’ academy in 2019.
He has since developed into a versatile wide attacker under Abel Ferreira’s guidance at the Allianz Parque, capable of operating on either flank or through midfield, and has racked up close to 100 appearances for the club.
This season alone he has started 12 of his 13 Brasileirão appearances, registering three goals and looking increasingly like a player ready for a step up in level.
