Liverpool crashed to a humbling 4-2 defeat away at Aston Villa on Friday night in the Premier League as they tumbled down to fifth place and failed to cement their place in next season's Champions League.
Arne Slot's side went 1-0 down on the stroke of half-time thanks to a stunning Morgan Rogers strike, before Virgil Van Dijk headed home an equaliser eight minutes into the second half. But two goals from Ollie Watkins and a screamer from John McGinn handed the home side all three points, and a place in the Champions League next season, while Van Dijk scored a second as a consolation in stoppage time.
The performance of the visitors left plenty to be desired, but there was another moment in the second half, moments before the third Villa goal, that left Reds legend Jamie Carragher fuming on commentary for Sky Sports.
Carragher 'Embarrassed' by Mac Allister

With Liverpool defending a corner, Alexis Mac Allister was tasked with the job of marking Villa centre-back Ezri Konsa, and as usual in the Premier League this season, grappling ensued.
The Argentina international shoved Konsa just before the kick was taken, and the England international retaliated by grabbing his shirt and pushing him back. But Mac Allister fell to the ground in a heap, clutching his face and screaming at the referee, looking for Konsa to be sent off.
The incident was shown as a replay on Sky Sports, and Carragher immediately reacted in disgust, labelling the World Cup winner as 'embarrassing' for his actions.
"Oh. Honest to God," he said.
"Honest to God. He goes down every game, Mac Allister, with something round his ankle normally, not like that.
"It's embarrassing. Just get up. Honestly. It would be embarrassing if they sent Konsa off for that.
"Mac Allister must know: we all look at the replays. We can all see what Konsa has done. He knows he can't get away with it."
Mac Allister Has Been Poor for Liverpool

Many fans were hopeful that Mac Allister would continue his good form this season after helping the team lift the Premier League, but his performances have fallen off a cliff, and many would now be happy to see the back of him.
Reports have emerged linking the 27-year-old with a move to Real Madrid, with some suggestions he would 'be happy to leave', if an offer came in for him.
But with so much change expected at Anfield this summer, the Reds must look for stability and continuity, and getting Mac Allister back to his best form would not only help in that sense, but it would also help massively with getting the team back to performing at the levels that are expected.
The Reds must now win on the final day of the season against Brentford to secure their place in next year's Champions League, or hope that Bournemouth suffer defeat in their next outing to bring their hopes to an end.
