Arne Slot is under increasing pressure after Liverpool suffered another defeat on Friday night, this time away at Aston Villa.
Villa secured a deserved 4-2 victory and Champions League football for next season thanks to goals from Morgan Rogers and John McGinn, plus a brace from Ollie Watkins, who issued a damning verdict on facing Slot’s Liverpool after the match.
While Liverpool’s talismanic defender Virgil van Dijk made the scoreline slightly more respectable by scoring two goals of his own at Villa Park, this was ultimately another dismal night for Slot and his players.
The Anfield faithful appear to be rapidly losing faith in Slot, who is currently the favourite to become the next Premier League manager to lose his job, despite winning the title in his debut campaign at Anfield.
Liverpool have now lost 20 games in all competitions this season, including 12 Premier League fixtures - which is more than the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons combined.

Only Leeds United and the four clubs at the bottom of the table have conceded more Premier League goals than Slot’s side this term.
GiveMeSport were told by senior football correspondent Ben Jacobs earlier this week that Liverpool and FSG have no plans to part company with Slot this summer, despite the team’s struggles.
Liverpool Decide Over Alonso and Slot

One manager who is currently a free agent but has strong ties to Liverpool is Xabi Alonso, who left his position as Real Madrid manager in January after less than eight months in charge at the Bernabeu.
The Spaniard was previously the head coach of Bayer Leverkusen, where he made German football history by leading the team to a remarkable 51-game unbeaten streak.
Daniel Storey, chief football writer, of the i Paper, tweeted during Liverpool’s defeat to Aston Villa: “I think you can simultaneously be generally pro patience with managers but also find it astounding that Liverpool might not consider appointing Xabi Alonso - who seems to want the job - in favour of risking this dirge continuing next season under Arne Slot.”
However, the Independent’s chief football writer Miguel Delaney has revealed that Liverpool have not contacted Alonso because, based on data and other evidence, they still believe Slot is the better manager for them.
Only time will tell whether Liverpool have made the right call by opting to stick with Slot for another season instead of appointing Alonso, who is a leading contender to become the new permanent Chelsea manager.
