There has been growing confidence from some well-respected journalists that Arne Slot will remain Liverpool manager next season.
However, behind the scenes, the situation may not be quite as clear-cut as many believe.
According to reports circulating around the club, the briefing suggesting Slot is safe reportedly comes from a senior individual who joined Liverpool in 2025 and currently oversees footballing operations at the club.
Despite the public messaging, we understand that a full review of Slot’s position is still expected to take place once the season officially ends.
And importantly, there is also said to be a possibility that Slot himself could consider walking away.
One major factor appears to be his contract situation.
Reports suggest Slot requested talks over a new deal, but those discussions have now been temporarily placed on hold until further notice.
That alone naturally raises questions.
At a club like Liverpool, delaying contract discussions with a manager after such public backing feels unusual.
Especially if the club were fully convinced about the long-term direction under Slot.
