Bournemouth Block Liverpool And Arsenal From Signing France’s Teen Sensation: Can Slot Really Afford To Walk Away From…

The biggest transfer news story coming out of the Premier League this week centres on Bournemouth’s firm refusal to sell teenage French forward Eli Junior Kroupi this summer. Tiago Pinto, Bournemouth’s managing director, delivered a blunt message to every interested party, telling the Spanish media, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, that even a €100 million bid from Liverpool or Barcelona wouldn’t convince the Cherries to part with their prized asset ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Transfer News: Bournemouth shut the door on Kroupi as Liverpool and Arsenal watch on

Kroupi, 19 years old, moved to the Vitality Stadium from FC Lorient in February 2025 for around £12 million and has since put together one of the most eye-catching debut campaigns in recent Premier League memory. He has scored 12 top-flight goals this season, becoming the first teenager to reach that milestone in a debut Premier League campaign since Robbie Fowler did it for Liverpool back in 1993/94. He currently averages a goal every 121 minutes, a ratio beaten only by Erling Haaland.

Because Kroupi’s contract runs until 2030 and carries no release clause, Bournemouth hold all the cards in any negotiation. Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, PSG, and Liverpool have all been tracking him closely, yet Pinto remains completely immovable.

Can Liverpool genuinely justify walking away from this without a fight?

Honestly, Liverpool probably can’t, and here is why. Arne Slot is set to lose Mohamed Salah at the end of this season and has already confirmed the squad faces another transition heading into 2026/27. Slot’s greatest strength is building compact, tactically smart teams around young, high-pressing attackers, which is exactly who Kroupi is. The 19-year-old can play centrally or out wide, instinctively stretches backlines, and works hard off the ball.

However, Kroupi’s heavy reliance on one foot and his developing physical strength against elite defenders are real limitations right now. Slot, who brought in Isak and Ekitike last summer, already has two forwards on massive wages. Spending €100 million on a player with just one strong Premier League season under his belt carries real risk. The smarter move for Liverpool is to stay patient, keep in touch with Bournemouth, and make a decisive move in 2027.
