The latest transfer talk from Newcastle United as a major update is given over the Magpies interest in a Ligue 1 star.
The 22-year-old has captured attention from several potential suitors ahead of the summer transfer window with a string of impressive performances at club and international level over the last two seasons. Since joining Monaco from Ligue 1 rivals Metz, Camara has scored three goals and provided 11 assists in 70 appearances and has established himself as an integral figure within the Senegal squad.
Speaking after the midfielder returned after helping the Lions of Teranga reach the final of this year’s African Cup of Nations, Monaco head coach Sébastien Pocognoli revealed the impact the tournament had made on him. He said: "Lamine now has a new status, he has become a big name in his country. He is learning to pass this course. But he came back with the same humility, the same thirst for work, the same concentration. I would even say that he has put more responsibilities and that he has more demands on himself and his teammates. It's very good because the group needs it. This demonstrates great potential for the future."
There was further praise from team-mate Lukas Hradecky as he said: "He does not receive the recognition he deserves. He's a great player. Since his return from the CAN, he is one of our best players. It has clearly taken on a new dimension. Lamine is a key player in our current comeback and our winning streak. He has a big character."

Since returning from the tournament, Camara has helped Monaco embark on a run of just two defeats in 15 games and he will be in their squad for Sunday night’s visit to Strasbourg. However, there is a growing feeling Camara may make his final appearance for the club as talk over his future continues to suggest he could be set for a move during the summer transfer window. The likes of Liverpool and Inter Milan have been suggested as possible suitors - but transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has given a major update suggesting Newcastle have already held talks with the midfielder.
He posted on X: “Newcastle have genuine interest in Lamine Camara while there are more clubs tracking AS Monaco midfielder. Initial talks already took place.”
