Liverpool among the teams chasing"elite"£56m midfielder; they've scouted him in the past

Liverpool are thought to be one of the clubs interested in completing the signing of Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara at the end of the season.

The Reds’ midfielder has been a mess in 2025/26, with Ryan Gravenberch below his best and Alexis Mac Allister bordering on painful to watch.

An injection of legs and quality is essential for Liverpool in the middle of the park this summer, with Crystal Palace ace Adam Wharton among those linked with a move to Anfield, and an offer even said to have been submitted.

Now, speaking to Football Insider, journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Monaco midfielder Camara is an option for the Merseysiders:

“He has been linked with a few clubs. He’s had another good season for Monaco and will go to the World Cup with Senegal.(Camara is a) very highly regarded player. He has been talked about for a long time as potentially moving to England, because he has the attributes to be a success in the Premier League.

“He’s physical, he can cover the ground, he’s got bit of defensive bite as well and obviously his athletic coverage does pique the interest of a number of English clubs. Liverpool are among them, and we do expect them to bring in a new number six in the summer to try and bolster their midfield, with some existing midfielders also likely to move on too.”

Can Lamine Camara help transform Liverpool’s midfield?

Camara is a hugely exciting young midfielder with vast potential, being hailed as an “elite” midfielder by Dr Phil Barter in the past.

The 22-year-old would bring the dynamism and defensive quality that Liverpool have lacked so badly this season, having averaged 2.3 and 2.2 tackles per game in Ligue 1 and the Champions League this term, respectively.

The £56m-rated Camara has reportedly been scouted by Liverpool recently, and he looks like a fantastic alternative option to Wharton, or a potential addition alongside the Palace and England star.

The Senegalese would be a long-term signing who can go straight in as a key man for the Reds from day one, and it will be interesting to see how things develop.
