Liverpool’s interest in PSG winger Bradley Barcola has been reiterated as “genuine,” but Rio Ngumoha‘s pathway has again emerged as a key consideration.
Earlier this month, it was reported in France that Barcola was “increasingly receptive” to a Liverpool move this summer, with the Times‘ Paul Joyce crediting the club with interest.
And *L’Equipe*‘s Hugo Delom, considered reliable when it comes to French players, has now reported Liverpool’s “interest is genuine” when it comes to Barcola.
It is, however, noted that the club “are well aware that the Parisian is more comfortable on the left wing” and that they “want to make room” for Ngumoha.
It is the exact same line that emerged last summer when Luis Diaz was not replaced, with Barcola and Malick Fofana touted with a move only for a decision to be made not to block the teenager’s pathway.
While proving one of the Reds’ few dynamic and unpredictable attacking threats, the 17-year-old has had his minutes managed, and Liverpool have paid the price for a lack of depth on the wing.

Barcola does primarily start from the left at PSG, with 30 appearances compared to seven on the right wing this season, resulting in 12 goals and seven assists in all competitions.
While he would be considered ahead of Ngumoha, this season has proved the need for options if the Reds are to sustain challenges across multiple competitions, which Barcola could offer on both wings.
L’Equipe‘s report goes on to state that “the matter is still under consideration,” with the club “currently looking for a right-sided specialist.”
Mo Salah‘s exit accelerates the need for a new right winger, with Yan Diomande currently considered the leading option, though he too has the flexibility to play on the left.
According to Joyce, Liverpool “will prioritise the signing of wingers to improve performances,” with Slot confirming talks are already ongoing with new players.
Liverpool will need more than one option added to their attack with Hugo Ekitike ruled out until 2027, and Ngumoha’s pathway will not be blocked by additional signings if the squad is rotated effectively.
How Liverpool choose to oversee the transformation of their forward line remains to be seen, but it is obvious it needs an injection of depth, pace and goals.
