Mohamed Salah has started the preparations for his final Liverpool next week just over 24 hours since he delivered another damning message to Arne Slot.

Salah is set to make his final Anfield appearance for Liverpool against Brentford on the last weekend of the Premier League season alongside Andy Robertson as the pair bring the curtain down on a successful nine-year tenure on Merseyside, with supporters expected to give the Egyptian and Robertson an emotional farewell.

Ahead of his departure, Salah admitted he wants to see major changes at Anfield after watching the Reds “crumble” to their 12th league defeat against Aston Villa with the comments being blasted by Gary Neville.

On Sunday afternoon, Salah, who returned the side at Villa Park after sustaining a hamstring injury against Crystal Palace, shared a video of him running through a park on his Instagram story. The 33-year-old will be aiming for a place in the starting XI for his final Liverpool game.

It comes just a day after the 33-year-old issued a statement on social media, insisting he will “give everything” to help Liverpool secure Champions League qualification, while suggesting the Reds must rediscover their trademark “heavy metal” style of football.

"I have witnessed this club go from doubters to believers, and from believers to champions," Salah wrote. "It took hard work and I always did everything I could to help the club get there. Nothing makes me prouder than that. Us crumbling to yet another defeat this season was very painful and not what our fans deserve. I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and back to being a team that wins trophies.

"That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good. It cannot be negotiable and everyone that joins this club should adapt to it. Winning some games here and there is not what Liverpool should be about. All teams win games."

Slot’s calmer tactical approach delivered Premier League success in his first season, and the Liverpool boss remains convinced it can continue to thrive with a more balanced squad next term.

Salah’s remarks could easily be interpreted as a public swipe at his manager, further exposing the fractured dynamic between the pair during a campaign in which Liverpool’s title defense ultimately collapsed.

Salah’s latest comments have only added to the tension surrounding his Anfield farewell, with Liverpool still battling to secure Champions League qualification.

Reports of a strained relationship between Salah and Slot have lingered for months, and what should have been a celebratory goodbye is now threatening to become an increasingly awkward and bitter ending.
