Mohamed Salah met up with some of his Liverpool teammates for dinner after the Liverpool forward aimed a pointed message at Arne Slot.

Ahead of his departure, Salah admitted he wants to see major changes at Anfield after watching the Reds “crumble” to their 12th Premier League defeat of the campaign against Aston Villa. He insisted he will “give everything” to help Liverpool secure Champions League qualification, while suggesting the Reds must rediscover their trademark “heavy metal” style of football.

Salah will make his final appearance in a Liverpool shirt next week bringing an end to an illustrious nine-year career at Anfield alongside Andy Robertson who will also leave on a free transfer this summer.

Ahead of his final week on Merseyside, Salah posted a picture on social media in a restaurant alongside teammates and friends Florian Wirts, Milos Kerkez and Dominik Szoboszlai.

In a statement on social media in which the 33-year-old seemingly criticized Slot, Salah wrote: "Liverpool will always be a club that means a great deal to me and to my family. I want to see it succeed for long after I have moved on.

"As I’ve always said, qualifying to next season’s Champions League is the bare minimum and I will do everything I can to make that happen."

On Instagram, Salah’s post quickly drew widespread attention within the Liverpool camp, receiving likes from teammates Szoboszlai, Robertson, Giovanni Leoni, Wataru Endo, Kerkez and Harvey Elliott.

Curtis Jones reacted in the comments with a clapping emoji, while Hugo Ekitike responded with a handshake. The post also gained further reactions from Cody Gakpo, Ibrahima Konate, Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, underlining strong engagement across the squad. Former Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold was among those to react to Salah’s lengthy post, which has been widely interpreted by some as a swipe at head coach.

While the response could simply reflect agreement with Salah’s concerns over falling standards rather than any suggestion of unrest, the narrative continues to prove damaging for Slot’s position. Liverpool’s recent results and performances have fallen below expectations, leaving the Reds still needing three more points to secure Champions League qualification as they conclude the season with a home fixture against Brentford.

Earlier in the week, ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Villa, Slot admitted he understood that fan sentiment was unlikely to improve before the end of the season. Since then, matters have only deteriorated following a 19th defeat in all competitions.

The Dutch coach is now preparing for a significant summer reset, with the campaign’s conclusion coming at an increasingly welcome time for the club. Slot remains confident that securing the right signings in the transfer window will be key to turning things around.
