Mohamed Salah has once again found himself at the center of attention after his latest comments were interpreted by many as a not-so-subtle dig at Arne Slot.
Salah will bring the curtain down on his nine-year tenure at Anfield next week. He has cemented his status as one of Liverpool’s greatest-ever players, rising to third on the club’s all-time scoring list behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt. During his remarkable spell at Anfield, he has helped deliver two Premier League titles, a Champions League crown and numerous other major trophies.
However, this campaign has been significantly below Liverpool's standards. With tensions around Liverpool’s difficult season continuing to grow, renewed focus has now fallen on everything Salah has previously said about his relationship with the Reds head coach.

Leeds outburst
In December, Salah dropped several bombshells — including that his relationship with Slot has completely broken down — in an explosive interview following the 3-3 draw with Leeds United. The 33-year-old also stated that someone at Liverpool was trying to "throw him under the bus".
On his relationship with the Dutchman, Salah said: "Yeah, there's no relationship between us. It was very good relationship and now all of a sudden there is no relationship."
He also stated his disbelief at being left on the bench for the game at Elland Road in which he also referenced his relationship with Slot. "That I'm sitting on the bench for 90 minutes," Salah said when asked what he couldn't believe. The third time on the bench, I think for the first time in my career. I'm very, very disappointed to be fair. I have done so much for this club down the years and especially last season.
"Now I'm sitting on the bench and I don't know why. It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That is how I am feeling. I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame. I got a lot of promises in the summer and so far I am in the bench for three games so I can't say they keep the promise. I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager and all of a sudden, we don't have any relationship."

Farewell announcement
In March, Salah confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season. In a video posted on social media, Salah said his "time had come" to leave Anfield. Many fans expected Salah to leave in the summer due to his lack of a relationship with Slot.
He said: "Hello everyone. Unfortunately the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. I wanted to start by saying I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people, would become part of my life.
"Liverpool is not just a football club. It is a passion, a history, a spirit that I can't explain in words to anyone not part of this club. I want to thank everyone who was part of this club during my time here, especially my teammates, past and present. And to the fans, I don't have enough words. The support you showed me, through the best time of my career, is something I will never forget and something I will always take with me.
"Leaving is never easy. You gave me the best time of my life. I will always be one of you. This club will always be my home, to me and my family. Thank you for everything. Because of all of you, I will never walk alone."We celebrated victory. We won the most important trophies and we fought together through the hardest time in our lives."

Villa jab
Salah's latest dig at Slot came after he admitted he wants to see major changes at Anfield after watching the Reds “crumble” to their 12th league defeat against Aston Villa. The Egyptian international insisted he will “give everything” to help Liverpool secure Champions League qualification, while suggesting the Reds must rediscover their trademark “heavy metal” style of football.
"I have witnessed this club go from doubters to believers, and from believers to champions," Salah wrote on social media. "It took hard work and I always did everything I could to help the club get there. Nothing makes me prouder than that. Us crumbling to yet another defeat this season was very painful and not what our fans deserve. I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and back to being a team that wins trophies.
"That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good. It cannot be negotiable and everyone that joins this club should adapt to it. Winning some games here and there is not what Liverpool should be about. All teams win games.

"Liverpool will always be a club that means a great deal to me and to my family. I want to see it succeed for long after I have moved on. "As I’ve always said, qualifying to next season’s Champions League is the bare minimum and I will do everything I can to make that happen."
