Arsenal Are 'Interested' In £87M Rated Champions League Winner With Move To Liverpool Now In Doubt

Arsenal are strong contenders to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola this summer, according to reports in the French media.

Liverpool have also been mentioned as potential suitors for the Champions League winner, but L’Equipe claim the Reds are reluctant to block the pathway of Rio Ngumoha.

They are aware that Barcola prefers to play on the left flank, and it could lead to the Merseysiders ending their pursuit of the player.

The Gunners could, therefore, be the main beneficiaries. Mikel Arteta’s side are reportedly “interested” in the forward, and if he leaves PSG, L’Equipe say his “most likely” destination is the Premier League.

Barcola is facing difficulties at his current club

The Frenchman’s future has become the subject of conversation for a couple of reasons. He has two years left on his contract, and talks over an extension have not progressed as expected.

Secondly, Barcola’s form has taken a noticeable dip over the last two months, to the extent that head coach Luis Enrique took him off at halftime during the 2-0 win over Lens last week.

A parting of ways is not beyond the realms of possibility, and a switch to the Emirates cannot be ruled out.

Arsenal are looking to replace Martinelli

The left flank has been an issue for Arteta all season. Gabriel Martinelli’s struggles are well-documented, and there is now an expectation that the Brazilian international will leave at the end of the campaign.

With that being the case, sporting director Andrea Berta is likely to be considering potential replacements.

Barcola’s teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been suggested as a target in the English media, but Barcola would be a more realistic option. His reported €100m (£87m) valuation, though, could still prove to be a big obstacle.
