Christian Kofane
LEVERKUSEN, GERMANY – 26 OCTOBER, 2025: Jarell Quansah, Edmond Tapsoba, Christian Kofane – The match of Bundesliga Bayer 04 Leverkusen vs SC Freiburg at BayArena.
Arsenal and Barcelona are keen on signing Bayer Leverkusen’s Christian Kofane in the summer.
The striker’s rapid development at the Bundesliga side have seen Arsenal, Barcelona and several other clubs show interest.
Bayer Leverkusen signed him from second division Spanish side Albacete Balompié after activating his €5m release clause in July 2025.
The move has worked out well for both parties as he has enjoyed a good run this season, managing seven goals and nine assists.
His Bundesliga stats are as follows:
Appearances: 29
Starts: 12
Total minutes: 1,269
Goals: 5
Assists: 4
Expected Goals: 6.80
Expected Assists: 1.11
Big chances created: 4
Big chances missed: 11
At the start of this year, Sport Witness relayed news of Newcastle United’s strong interest in the 19-year-old.
Arsenal and Barcelona ahead
Africa Foot now state Christian Kofane’s ‘meteoric rise’ at Bayer Leverkusen has already caught the attention of several clubs.
This includes Newcastle United, Chelsea, Brentford and Bayern Munich and these clubs have made initial contact to gather information about signing him.
However, Arsenal and Barcelona are ‘in pole position’ as the report states these two clubs are ‘making more concrete moves’.
There’s no explanation given as to what firm steps the Gunners and the La Liga winners have taken so far. However, both teams seem to be ahead of other clubs in the race to sign the Cameroon international.
Bayer Leverkusen are in control of the situation and would be ‘receptive to a particularly high financial offer’, without the mention of a figure. It allows them to make a huge profit, after investing €5m to sign him.
On March 31st, Sport Witness covered claims from Germany of Bayer Leverkusen setting their sights on Club Brugge’s Nicolò Tresoldi. A move will be considered if Kofane leaves.
Contract, value and agent info
The Cameroonian has a contract until 2029, and Transfermarkt now value him at €40m, which is the highest value of his career.
Agency Afrosport, owned by agent Eric Depolo, represent Christian Kofane.
If the Bayer Leverkusen frontman were to move to the Emirates, he’d initially has to settle for a backup role at Arsenal.
