Mohamed Salah is proving that “things are not right” at Liverpool with his recent statement, according to one of the Egyptian’s former teammates.
Salah has put Arne Slot under even more pressure after airing his frustrations on social media on Saturday, following the 4-2 defeat at Aston Villa the previous day. The result means Champions League qualification remains in the balance for the Reds heading into the final week of the season.
Having already claimed back in December that his relationship with the Dutchman had broken down, Salah seemingly took aim at Slot again as he aired his frustrations on Liverpool’s poor season.

“Us crumbling to yet another defeat this season was very painful and not what our fans deserve,” Salah posted on social media.
“I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and back to being a team that wins trophies. That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good. It cannot be negotiable and everyone that joins this club should adapt to it.
“Winning some games here and there is not what Liverpool should be about. All teams win games.
“Liverpool will always be a club that means a great deal to me and to my family. I want to see it succeed for long after I have moved on.”

The post has garnered plenty of support from Salah’s Liverpool teammates, many of whom have either liked or commented, which won’t help Slot’s cause.
The Reds’ boss has already come under pressure from fans during games recently, while some feeling that the club should make a change this summer. Former Chelsea and Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer - a former teammate of Salah’s - believes the latest developments are not a good sign for Slot.
“It's not really what you want as a manager - obviously, your biggest-name players coming out and making statements on social media, some of his teammates liking it,” Schwarzer said on the BBC’s Match of the Day. “It just shows you things are not right at the club.

“Mo is not someone, normally, who speaks too much to the media, and obviously, for now he knows he's leaving, and he wants to make a point, and he's clearly making one.”
For the time being, Liverpool looks to still be backing Slot, a stance which looks to have been backed up following Chelsea’s appointment of Xabi Alonso.
Slot himself has also insisted that he expects to remain in charge at Anfield next season, although he could still face a fight to get his side into next season’s Champions League, with Liverpool potentially needing a result on the final day against Brentford.
