Arne Slot looks set to stay on as Liverpool manager for next season, despite pressure on the Dutchman's shoulders following a poor Premier League campaign.
Slot has the backing of the owners at Anfield and the bare minimum of UEFA Champions League qualification will be secured on Tuesday night if Bournemouth fail to beat Manchester City.
Disquiet grew on Friday night after Liverpool were torn apart by fellow top five side Aston Villa 4-2 to leave them 20 points adrift of league leaders Arsenal in the defence of their Premier League crown.

That title triumph last season has led to Slot having goodwill in the bank, with owners Fenway Sports Group understood to be accepting of the mitigating factors around new signings and injuries for this season's poor return.
Despite having splashed out more than £400million on new signings last summer, the Reds are likely to be busy in this summer's transfer window as Slot looks to rebuild.
Andy Robertson will be leaving at the end of his contract, while Mohamed Salah will also depart, having agreed to terminate his contract a year early, following a tumultuous season in the north west.
Ibrahima Konate could still leave, with no confirmation of a new contract being signed just yet, while a number of other players have been linked with an exit, which would lead Slot to look for replacements.
One of the latest names to be linked with a move to Anfield is a countryman of Slot - Teun Koopmeiners.
The Dutch midfielder has not had a great season with Juventus, with Sport Witness saying that his "goal contributions have dropped considerably but performances have never been great either".
Liverpool are not the only team in for Koopmeiners
Arne Slot
Koopmeiners, who was labelled as "almost inhuman" by former AZ Alkmaar boss Pascal Jensen and described as a "complete footballer" by former teammate Ruud Krol, has just two goals and one assist to his name this season - all in the Champions League - meaning he has failed to provide a goal contribution in 32 Serie A appearances.
TuttoSport claim that Liverpool tried to sign the 28-year-old two seasons ago and are now interested once more, with the player's agent holding talks with several Premier League clubs about a summer transfer already, with Liverpool among them.
Juventus are open to letting the midfielder leave, with a €30million (£26million) price tag on his shoulders. Manchester United have also been linked with a move for the midfielder, who can play in a deeper lying role or in a more advanced, attacking position.
