Parlour Claims Arsenal Have Major Injury“Worry”That Could Jeopardise Chances Of Winning The Champions League

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour says Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has to find a solution for right-back before the Champions League final later this month.

Ben White has been ruled out for the rest of the season after sustaining a knee injury during the 1-0 win over West Ham. Jurrien Timber is on the comeback trail, but Parlour is concerned about Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and whether the Dutchman’s lack of match sharpness could be an issue:

“[Kvaratskhelia]’s, for me, one of the best players I’ve seen for a long time. I mean, he’s great – what he does with the ball, he chops inside. So that is a bit of a worry.”

“I don’t know what sort of time Timber has been out. A long time. Whether he can throw him straight back in, I don’t know, because it’s nothing like when you’ve missed so many games out injured. You can’t just suddenly go in and do a great job. So it’d be interesting to see what he can do there. I don’t know. I mean that’s going to be the worry for him, there’s no doubt about that.”

When will Timber be back fit?

The Netherlands international has been pictured back in training, but due to the amount of time he has been sidelined for, he is unlikely to be fit to start games straight away.

Timber has been sidelined for over two months with a groin problem, and the hope will be that he can get some minutes under his belt in the remaining Premier League games before starting the Champions League final.

Are any other Arsenal players likely to miss the PSG match?

Riccardo Calafiori is believed to have suffered a minor knock against West Ham, and unlike White, he should play again before the end of the season.

There is less certainty about Mikel Merino. The midfielder underwent surgery on a fractured foot in February, and he has yet to return to training.
