Liverpool fans have reacted to Mohamed Salah’s latest statement, with some questioning Liverpool’s identity under Arne Slot following the forward’s post on Saturday.
Over the past decade at Anfield, the man to step up in Liverpool’s hour of need has constantly been Mohamed Salah. He has rightly earned the nickname ‘ The Egyptian King’ amongst the fanbase for his efforts of pulling the Reds through rough periods,
Aas we saw last year following Jurgen Klopp’s departure, as he won the Premier League Golden Boot and Playermaker of the Season awards as they went on to lift the Premier League title.
Unfortunately for the 33-year-old, he has not been able to deliver the heroics on the pitch this season, though he has still been a figure off the field. Earlier this season, Salah spoke with the press where he suggested that he was being ‘thrown under the bus’ by key figures at the club, and his relationship with head coach Arne Slot had deteriorated.
Both the winger and Slot have been under fire this season from pundits and supporters. Some claim that Salah doesn’t have what it takes to be an elite winger anymore in England, to help them win big trophies, as they have failed to do this season.
More fans are angered by the direction the Dutch head coach is taking them, and a defeat to Aston Villa the other day marked their 12th league loss of a dreadful campaign.
In what was the Egyptians’ final away game as a Red, he took to X/Twitter to state that the situation at the club is poor, and he wants to see the team turn around, which he is hoping to do in the final game of the season. He said, “Winning some games here and there is not what Liverpool should be about. All teams win games. Liverpool will always be a club that means a great deal to me and my family.
“As I’ve always said, qualifying for next season’s Champions League is the bare minimum, and I will do everything I can to make that happen.”
A lot of supporters have jumped on social media to support the comments made by the star winger, in hopes that the club can move past this awful season, and put themselves on a bright path once again, with that potentially meaning that Slot is moved on after the final game of the season against Brentford.
X user @Mobyhaque1 said, “The mentality you have shown is unparalleled Mo. We are with you. The standards you set is the standards we need to go back to. Thank you Mo. While @GoatMo_ said, “@MoSalah The armband is just an accessory on the arm. True captaincy is about standards and elite mentality, and you’ve always been the real leader of this club.”

They should have listened to you, instead they tried to make you the scapegoat. We knew all along. ❤️

But Slot claims standards are about more than what happens in the gym.
Salah posting this, and his teammates liking it, could be Liverpool’s best and only hope of getting the result they need next week.
I sense there’s a lot more to come out about the dumpster fire that has…

It’s shown in the fan response that he isn’t just adored by the fans for his crucial goals, but also his commitment to the club and its people, something that should be at the centre of the Reds’ focus.
Andy Robertson has already confirmed he’ll be leaving this summer, and the door to Juventus for Alisson is creaking open each passing day. This won’t just leave a void of quality, but a void of leadership at the heart of Liverpool’s squad, a key part which needs addressing.
In his press conference following the defeat at Villa Park, Slot made it clear that there will be considerable change on the way to Anfield this summer, stating the fans are ‘underestimating what a transfer window can do, what a new start can do’, though last years window looked to put the Reds well and truly back on their perch, instead, it’s a rocky surface, with no guarneetee the team will improve given signings.
Fellow teammates seem to share Salah’s sentiments, with a large majority liking his post on Instagram, and even Curtis Jones has come out with a statement afterwards saying, “It’s way off the standards expected at this football club.”
Thank you for your continued support in a disappointing season.

The scouser could also be on his way out of the club this summer with Inter Milan showing interest, therefore, there may not be a local lad in Liverpool’s first team squad next season, which raised serious questions regarding the direction Slot, Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards are taking the team, which seems to be falling down a slippery slope
Fans will have a keen eye on the Dutchman’s press conference this week regarding the 33-year-old’s comments, and whether he even features against the Bees on Sunday, though Salah has drawn the line, will the club follow through?
