Mo Salah “negotiations frozen” & Yan Diomande update – Latest Liverpool FC News

There has been an update on Mo Salah‘s future from an Egyptian source which claims negotiations have “frozen” with a Saudi Arabian club.

“Negotiations frozen” over Mo Salah transfer

It will come as no surprise that Salah is a highly-coveted man, having announced he will leave Liverpool this summer.

Countless clubs would like the 33-year-old, but being able to afford his wages is another matter – he is on about £450,000 per week at Anfield.

A well-placed source on matters regarding Salah, WinWin‘s Ismail Mahmoud, gave us an update on who the Egyptian could join:

“The Saudi League remains the closest destination for Mohamed Salah with Al-Ittihad Club, despite the negotiations being frozen at the moment.

“Meanwhile, Juventus’ efforts to sign the Egyptian star have received a strong blow, after they came close to missing the opportunity to qualify for the Champions League next season.

“The option of Roma and Atletico Madrid remains open, without any official talks so far with the player or his representatives.”

It would seem strange for Salah to leave for Saudi Arabia given he clearly still feels able to play at a high level.

Should Alisson move to Juventus, then perhaps Turin would be an ideal destination. However, you would expect that any European club vying for his signature would require Champions League football as a lure.

• The Athletic‘s Simon Hughes wrote that “not so long ago” Salah had not completely ruled out staying at Liverpool, but only if Arne Slot and other high-ups were to leave

• Both Salah and Robertson will both receive mosaic tributes on the final day, with Robertson honoured in the lower Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand while Salah is celebrated on the Kop

• Transfer target Yan Diomande has replied with a simple, “Yes,” when asked if he will stay at RB Leipzig next season – surely that won’t be the end of the rumours, though

• Fellow young attacker Mateus Mane will apparently also stay put this summer – Wolves manager Rob Edwards told the BBC that he will be remaining at Molineux despite relegation to the Championship

Sam Millne takes a look at Liverpool’s points per game rate since Slot arrived and how it has been dropping in an alarming manner:

“They won their opening five games of the campaign, which has effectively saved them from mid-table mediocrity.

“Since the opening five games, the Reds have averaged 1.38 points per game. Across a full season, that would be worth 52 points, which would see them in eighth.”

• Lucas Leiva is to join BBC Sport’s punditry team for the World Cup this summer – it will be nice to hear from the Brazilian!

Liverpool Women finished their campaign on Saturday with a 3-1 defeat against Arsenal at Anfield.

Having led 2-0 at home but lost 3-2 to Brighton in the FA Cup semi-final last weekend, Liverpool Women got themselves up for one more game.

With legend Gemma Bonner leaving, she was given a grateful farewell at Anfield as the Reds lost.

The result meant Liverpool finished second-bottom (11th) in the WSL, eight points above relegated Leicester, after improving in the second half of the campaign.
