Fresh scrutiny surrounds Anfield after Liverpool’s 4-2 defeat to Aston Villa on Friday, leaving the Reds needing a final-day win over Brentford to secure Champions League qualification.
Pressure is mounting on head coach Arne Slot, who is set to face intense media scrutiny at the AXA Training Centre following Mohamed Salah’s latest social media post.

The Egyptian forward appeared to call for a return to the club’s “heavy metal football” style, previously associated with Jurgen Klopp.
Salah, who is expected to leave this summer, could make his final Anfield appearance on Sunday. However, Wayne Rooney believes Slot should consider dropping the forward after what he described as another public “dig” at the manager.
Off the pitch, Liverpool are tracking Yan Diomande, though competition from top European clubs could complicate any deal, with reports suggesting he may remain at RB Leipzig next season.
There could also be significant squad changes this summer. Federico Chiesa is expected to leave after struggling to impress since joining from Juventus, who are reportedly interested in re-signing him.
The Italian side are also said to be targeting Alisson Becker, although Liverpool retain control over his future after triggering a contract extension.
Meanwhile, the club are also working to extend contracts for several young players. According to the Liverpool Echo, Kieran Morrison and Keyrol Figueroa are both set to be out of contract this summer, although the Reds remain confident that new deals will be agreed.
Morrison has enjoyed an outstanding campaign, earning a nomination for the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award and currently sitting as the league’s second-top scorer with 14 goals. Figueroa has also impressed, ranking fourth with 12 goals in just 15 appearances.
Morrison is an attacking midfielder who signed his first professional contract with Liverpool in April 2024. He joined the club’s Academy at U14 level after previously being with Manchester United.
After featuring for the U18s in 2023-24, Morrison stepped up to the U21s the following season and impressed in both Premier League 2 and the UEFA Youth League, scoring seven goals in his debut campaign. The 19-year-old made his senior debut in October 2025, starting a Carabao Cup tie against Crystal Palace at Anfield.
His rapid progress continued as he was named Premier League 2 Player of the Month for January 2026, scoring five goals in four games, including a hat-trick against Arsenal. He represents Northern Ireland at U21 level and received his first senior call-up in March 2026.
Meanwhile, Keyrol Figueroa is a highly rated striker who signed his first professional deal with Liverpool in May 2024. The son of former Wigan Athletic defender Maynor Figueroa, he also joined the Academy at U14 level.
Known for his pace and eye for goal, Figueroa can play centrally or on the right. He featured for the U18s in 2022-23 and starred for the United States U17 at the CONCACAF U17 Championship, scoring seven goals in seven games as his side finished runners-up to Mexico.
He progressed to the U21s in 2024-25 and made a strong start to the 2025-26 season, including a hat-trick against Everton in Premier League 2. Shortly after, he was named in the senior matchday squad for the Carabao Cup clash with Crystal Palace.
The 19-year-old was nominated for Premier League 2 Player of the Month in January 2026. He represented the United States up to U20 level before switching allegiance to Honduras in May 2026.
