Liverpool could be set for a dramatic final week of the season, both on and off the pitch. Everything hinges on the next seven days, with Liverpool and Bournemouth battling for a top-five finish and Champions League qualification.

Bournemouth face Manchester City on Tuesday, and any points for Andoni Iraola’s side would increase the pressure heading into the final day. A defeat, however, would hand Arne Slot a clearer path back to Europe’s top competition.

Regardless, the final day looks set to be tense – especially after Mohamed Salah called for Liverpool to return to a “heavy metal” attacking style following the loss to Aston Villa, a comment seen as criticism of Slot’s approach.

Slot still appears to have the club’s backing, but attention will remain on him this week. In the transfer market, Liverpool are targeting two forwards.

A right winger is needed to replace Salah, who is expected to leave on a free transfer, while another attacker is required with Hugo Ekitike facing six to nine months out with an Achilles injury.

TSG Hoffenheim winger Bazoumana Toure has been linked with a move to Anfield this summer. The 20-year-old joined TSG Hoffenheim in February 2025 and quickly established himself as a key player.

This season, he has made 30 Bundesliga appearances, scoring five goals and registering 12 assists. According to Sky Sports in Germany, Hoffenheim star Bazoumana Toure is on the verge of leaving the club after they failed to qualify for the Champions League.

It is claimed that only Champions League qualification would have convinced the Ivorian to stay, and his departure now looks increasingly likely.

Several top clubs are monitoring his situation, including Liverpool and Manchester United, while Aston Villa and Newcastle United have also shown concrete interest.

There is no release clause in his contract, with Hoffenheim demanding between €30–40 million for the Ivory Coast international.

Toure has been named in Ivory Coast’s 26-man squad for this year’s World Cup. Ivory Coast are in Group E for their fourth World Cup appearance and will open their campaign on 14 June against Ecuador, before facing Germany and tournament debutants Curaçao.

The tournament, hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, runs from 11 June to 19 July. Toure is expected to play a key role for his country at the tournament.
