Pep Guardiola will leave his role as Manchester City manager after Sunday’s final Premier League game of the season against Aston Villa, according to the Daily Mail.

Guardiola is set to end a 10-year spell at the Etihad Stadium, during which he has won 20 trophies, including six Premier League titles and an unprecedented four in a row, as well as the club’s first Champions League.

The club are understood to have informed sponsors of an imminent announcement, with his departure also an open secret among some close to the Spaniard.

An open-top bus parade is planned for Monday, May 25, beginning in Manchester’s Northern Quarter and finishing at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola has one year remaining on his contract, though his exit has been widely rumoured for months and he could yet remain in a different capacity. Potential successors include Enzo Maresca and Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany.

Maresca worked as part of Guardiola’s coaching staff from 2022 to 2023 before taking charge of Championship side Leicester City, guiding them to promotion.

He later joined Chelsea, where he won the Conference League and Club World Cup in 2025 before reportedly leaving Stamford Bridge in early 2026 after holding talks with Manchester City over a potential succession plan for Guardiola.

Manchester City travel to Bournemouth before their final league fixture against Aston Villa. Ahead of their FA Cup final triumph – a 1-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday – Pep Guardiola reiterated that he still has one year remaining on his contract.

However, after the victory, he spoke warmly about his squad, suggesting a continued long-term role in their development at Manchester City.

“The future is bright,” he said. “I know the guys, I know how they feel, the commitment to the club, very professional. I’m pretty sure we’ll be there in the next years.”

Manchester City currently sit two points behind Arsenal with two matches remaining. However, victories against Bournemouth on Tuesday and Aston Villa on Sunday would only be meaningful if Arsenal drop points against either Burnley or Crystal Palace.

Speaking after the FA Cup win, Bernardo Silva, who is set to leave Man City this summer, told the BBC that Pep Guardiola’s future is entirely his own decision.

“He changed the way I see football, Silva said. “Eighty per cent of my career was with him as my manager. All the things I hoped to achieve were with him. The relationship we have is very strong with the frustrations and the achievements.

“I care a lot about Man City. That’s his decision [on whether he wants to leave]. It is not for me to comment on that. I wish him all the best. I enjoy being with him, having shared all these moments together.”
