He joined Dagenham & Redbridge FC last July, the same day the club confirmed a takeover by a group of Qatari private investors. He was later appointed interim manager following the departure of Lee Bradbury.
From next season, Carroll is expected to combine playing and coaching duties under new manager Lee Allinson, who was confirmed as manager on May 3 following a successful spell at Hemel Hempstead Town.
Supporters have now been informed that his assistant will be former England striker Andy Carroll. A club statement read: “We are delighted to confirm that Daggers Number Nine Andy Carroll will be Lee Allinson’s Player-Assistant Manager for the 2026/27 Season.
“Andy led the Daggers as Interim Manager for the final seven league fixtures last season, overseeing a 2-2-3 record, including memorable wins over Torquay and H&R Borough.
“He now embraces the role to continue to support the management team, while returning to the pitch as a player next season.
“Already a Shareholder, this announcement reaffirms Andy’s commitment to the Daggers’ revival. Further communication confirming the rest of the technical team will be released over the coming weeks.”
Andy Carroll said regarding his appointment: “Stepping into this role is a huge honour for me. There’s a real hunger around the club heading into the new season, and I’m looking forward to helping build something everyone can be proud of.”
On the appointment, Lee Allinson stated: “Andy’s experience, leadership qualities and passion for the club made him the perfect choice for this role. He’s someone the players respect enormously, and I’m delighted to have him alongside me.”
Andy Carroll stepped into the dugout for the final seven games of the National League South season. During that spell, he helped oversee notable victories against Torquay United and Hampton & Richmond Borough FC. With more still to offer on the pitch, Carroll is set to combine playing and coaching duties in the upcoming campaign.
