Agent 'ready to accelerate': Third Liverpool star set for Anfield farewell at 5pm Sunday

Alisson Becker remains high on Juventus’ list of priorities for the summer transfer window with his agent reportedly ready to ramp up movement on a transfer to Italy.

The Brazilian goalkeeper has been one of the best goalkeepers in Europe for nigh on a decade with injuries being the only barrier to him being able to claim the title as the outright best shotstopper.

However, with injuries becoming more and more frequent, Liverpool now look set to allow him to leave despite Alisson’s contract including an option for an automatic extension for the 2026-27 season.

It will be sad to see him leave, but with reports increasingly linking him with a return to Serie A, he now looks set to leave the club this summer.

Transfer latest on Alisson as move to Juventus gathers pace

According to a report from Italian news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus will be Alisson’s next club even if they don’t qualify for the 2026-27 Champions League after a poor season.

The report states: “Liverpool’s Brazilian number 1 remains convinced of the Juventus project even if they fail to qualify for the Champions League: his agent is ready to accelerate after new contacts with the management.

“He wants to play for Juventus and will be ready to bid farewell to Anfield on Sunday at 5 p.m. on the final day of the Premier League season, against Brentford. Manager Arne Slot is expected to start him, but Alisson intends for this to be a splendid finale after eight memorable seasons at Liverpool.”

The report goes on to state that Alisson has “carefully absorbed Juventus’ motivations” with an agreement with Liverpool still yet to be reached.

That shouldn’t be an issue as Liverpool have historically not blocked players from leaving if they express a wish to leave. FSG prefer to keep players that show a clear willingness to stay. On top of that, Alisson has been such a valuable and unproblematic servant for the club that he should be given the green light to leave if that’s his desire.

It will be a major loss for the Reds even if Alisson only played 34 games this season as the jury is still out on Giorgi Mamardashvili and his potential as No.1.
