Newcastle United have been given the green light to complete a deal to sign Juventus striker Jonathan David this summer, according to TEAMtalk.
The Magpies are planning a major summer rebuild after they missed out on European football, with Eddie Howe keen to add more firepower to his squad after difficult seasons for both Yoanne Wissa and Nick Woltemade.
Now it has emerged that the club has identified one long-term target as being available this summer, and a deal could be on the cards to finally be completed and help to bolster the side.

David, who has been described as 'one of the best strikers in the world', joined Juventus on a free transfer from Lille last summer but has struggled massively to make an impact with the Serie A giants, registering just eight goals and five assists in 45 appearances in all competitions.
That has seen the Turin club make the decision that they would be open to allowing him to move on in the summer window, and it's understood that intermediaries have made contact with the Toon about potentially taking him to the Premier League.
Juventus are keen to re-sign Randal Kolo Muani this summer, while Dusan Vlahovic is expected to find an agreement over a new contract before his current deal expires at the end of the season, and that has seen David drop down the pecking order even further at the Allianz Stadium.
Newcastle are assessing multiple options ahead of the window opening, with Anthony Gordon also expected to be on the move amid strong interest from Bayern Munich, and they have been given the green light by Juventus over a potential loan deal.
David is also understood to be open to making the move to revitalise his career, with the Premier League somewhere that he has dreamed of playing at some point in his career.

Newcastle went big on bringing in two strikers last summer, but Wissa has been a total flop and Woltemade has struggled to adapt to English football as quickly as they needed him to.
Now, the club need to ensure that if they are to bring in another forward this summer, he is ready to make an immediate impact. There is no guarantee that David can do that, and that represents a gamble.
With that said, a loan deal means that they don't have to commit to a long-term contract, and it could be the ideal solution to a problem they didn't foresee having to revisit so soon just 12 months ago.
