Report: Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Serie A defender

Juventus appear increasingly open to parting ways with Andrea Cambiaso this summer, with Spurs continuing to watch developments closely as the Serie A side reassess several areas of their squad.

Reports in Italy suggest frustration has grown around the 26 year old defender after an inconsistent campaign in Turin. Cambiaso began the season poorly under Igor Tudor and, despite signs of improvement following Luciano Spalletti’s arrival, his performances have dipped again in recent weeks.

Interest from Spurs has already been reported, while Inter Milan and Barcelona are also credited with monitoring the versatile Juventus full back. A disappointing display against Fiorentina has only accelerated discussion around a possible transfer.

The wider feeling around Juventus is that substantial changes are needed after a difficult season, and Cambiaso increasingly looks like one of the players who could depart if the right offer arrives.

Balzarini Questions Defender’s Credibility

------------------------------------------

Italian journalist Gianni Balzarini delivered a particularly strong assessment of the player’s situation while speaking on his YouTube channel, comments later relayed by TuttoJuve.

“There are certain players who, in my opinion, can no longer stay there, also due to certain attitudes. Cambiaso, with his lack of danger perception—and he even laughs about it, or at least smiles about it, is a player who can no longer stay at Juventus because he no longer has the credibility to give his all for this team, at least from the outside.”

Balzarini also argued Juventus should seriously consider a sale if clubs such as Spurs or Barcelona make an offer in the region of €40m to €50m.

“So, if Barcelona’s interest in Cambiaso is confirmed, even at €40-50 million, Juve will pack him up and send him away. That is, because he no longer has the credibility to stay at Juventus. He has tactical intelligence, yes. He has the ability to play inside the pitch as a winger. Yes, but this year he hasn’t performed as well as he should have. Not even him.”

Spurs Could Offer Ideal Tactical Fit

------------------------------------

Despite criticism surrounding his recent displays, there remains a sense that Andrea Cambiaso has suffered alongside a Juventus side lacking rhythm and certainty throughout much of the campaign.

His game relies heavily on tactical structure, technical precision and positional freedom. Those qualities were seen consistently during his time at Bologna and also in spells with the Italian national team. Juventus have rarely looked settled enough this season to maximise those strengths.

That is why Spurs could view the player as a strong fit for their evolving system. Cambiaso’s ability to invert into midfield, operate as an attacking full back or push further forward would offer tactical flexibility few defenders possess.

There is also a broader Premier League logic to the move. Spurs need greater technical quality in wide areas and more intelligent ball progression from deeper positions. Andrea Cambiaso would address both concerns while still arriving at an age where further development remains realistic.

For Juventus, this increasingly feels like a relationship drifting towards its natural conclusion. For Spurs, it may represent an opportunity worth serious consideration.
