Hebburn Town aiming to hold Newcastle United loan talks after 'discussions' with Sunderland

Hebburn Town are currently preparing for their first ever season in the National League North.

Hebburn Town manager Daniel Moore has revealed he has held ‘some conversations’ with Sunderland and Hartlepool United about potential loan deals as he prepares his squad for a first ever season in the National League North.

The Hornets exceeded all expectations last season as they saw off the challenges of FC United of Manchester and Hednesford Town to become Northern Premier League Premier Division champions for the first time in their history - and their squad was boosted by a number of loan additions during the campaign.

Hartlepool duo Campbell Darcy and Kian Foreman both featured during the season before the latter spent the last two months of the campaign with Spennymoor Town. Sunderland youngsters Jake Waters, Dan Cameron and Issac Allan also spent time at the Trustmark Group Stadium and played a role in one of the stories of the North East football season as Moore and his players secure a first ever promotion into the second tier of the non-league game.

Preparations for the new National League North season are already underway - and Moore has revealed he has discussed potential loans with Pools and the Black Cats and is hoping to have similar conversations with Newcastle United over the coming weeks.

He told The Gazette: “We are speaking to a lot of players at the moment but resources-wise, we are not in a position to do a lot at the moment. We have some young players that are coming out of academies and trying to get back in and I think we can help them with that if it’s right for everyone. We have a lot of irons in the fire and we maybe need to make sure three or four of them come in.

“We’ve had some conversations with Sunderland and Hartlepool and I think getting promoted into the National League North means Newcastle might be an option and we know they’ll be looking to get players out and get them some experience. We don’t really want to rely on loans too much - but they have been successful for us in the past and we know we can help young players improve during their time with us so we will go down that route if we feel it works for us.”
