Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey believes Paris Saint-Germain superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia would be the ideal tonic for a club losing Mohamed Salah this summer.

Reds star Salah played his final match at Anfield on Sunday with a 1-1 draw with Brentford bringing to a close a decorated and trophy-laden nine years on Merseyside, where he won two Premier League titles and the 2019 Champions League among other honours.

Liverpool are now fixing their attention on bolstering their squad with wide players, with Arne Slot revealing that the club are in the market for "at least one" this coming transfer window.

And Georgia international Kvaratskhelia, who is set to start against Arsenal in Saturday's Champions League final, is the perfect solution for Heskey, who scored 22 times for a Gerard Houllier side that won the FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup 25 years ago.

"Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is the player I want at Liverpool," Heskey told Hajper. "He is a phenomenon, and I think he’s going from strength to strength.

"He’s only 25 and he already looks great. I saw him when he was still at Napoli when they played against Leicester City and even then he was outstanding.

"Watching him and Victor Osimhen together was frightening. Imagine it next season. Kvaratskhelia on wing. Rio Ngumoha or Anthony Gordon on the other. That does it for me.

"Then you’ve got the two forwards in Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitke and you’ve got a strong front three whoever you play."

Heskey added: "You’ve got to be careful though as Liverpool fans because as good as these players are you’ve still got to replace Mohamed Salah, and you can’t replace Mohamed Salah.

"You won’t replace Mohamed Salah. You’ve got to do something different now and find another way. Salah has been at Liverpool for nine seasons.

"That’s nine years of him getting on the ball high and wide, taking players on and scoring screamers and bagging 30 goals a season.

"There’s no one who is going to come in and be like that so we’ve got to find something different, and Kvaratskhelia is that because we still want that intensity Salah brought to us.

"We still want that hype. We still want that fun."
