Wolves' eight-year spell in the Premier League has come to an end after a long and tough season.

After the start they had, it was almost impossible for Wolves to escape the dreaded drop, but we've also got to look back in fondness at some amazing moments that Wolves have had in the Premier League.

Finishing seventh twice, the Europa League journey, beating teams like Espanyol, Olympiacos, Besiktas, Torino, until they lost to Sevilla.

They have had many highs and hopefully it is just one year away and they can bounce back at the first attempt next season.

But the game itself against Burnley on Sunday was almost a carbon copy of the game against Fulham last week, with Wolves starting the game extremely well and getting their goal through a terrific Adam Armstrong penalty.

They had chances to score a second and Mateus Mane crashed one against the post with a terrific solo effort after a wonderful run. He had another good game.

Mane can improve his decision-making and his end product, but there’s so much positivity when he does get the ball.

Wolves should have put that game to bed in the first half and Burnley getting that equaliser straight after half-time meant that they were the team then who had the upper hand in the second half and Jose Sa had to make some good saves to keep Wolves in it.

Fans showed their appreciation at the end for some players who are expected to depart the football club. But unfortunately, it was another away day without a victory.

No away wins all season, the first time that has happened to any Premier League team since 2009/10 and you have to feel for the fans.

The fans who travelled down to Bournemouth on their first away game this season would never have thought that they'd be travelling all over the country and not see a victory.

You have to give a lot of credit to those fans for sticking by the team still travelling every other week to different parts of the country.

The one blessing is they got the victory away at Grimsby on one of the longer trips, but no Premier League away wins is really poor and is obviously a big part of why Wolves have been relegated this season.

The big news coming out before the game was Andre signing a new contract and I did not see that coming at all.

I was certain he would leave this summer and it is an amazing coup for Wolves to keep a player of Andre’s quality.

Although his performances have dipped at times this season, there's no doubt in the player that he is.

The thing that gives me the most positivity about it is that he's a player that will be able to adapt to the Championship extremely well.

I spent the majority of my career playing in the Championship. I know the characteristics you need to have to be a successful midfielder in that league and Andre definitely has all of those characteristics.

He'll be able to handle the physicality of the league. He'll be able to handle how fast it is, how little time he has on the ball. I think his actual game will become more effective in the Championship because of his skill set.

You have less time on the ball but Andre handles the ball so well. He manoeuvres it from areas of high pressure to low pressure extremely well. I think that will work really well in the Championship as teams look to counter press Wolves and he can get the ball out of there quickly and then there'll be a lot more space for our attacking players to go and hurt the opposition.

There's a lot more turnovers in possession in the Championship and Andre is excellent at winning the ball back.

Wolves can really trust him with the ball at his feet. To have a player of that quality that you can put the ball into in those tight areas and know that they're going to retain possession for you is a massive advantage.

If his mind is on next season and his motivation is there from a mental point of view, then he could quite comfortably be the best player in the Championship next year. I have no doubt about that.

It’s a real coup for Wolves and a big thing for Rob Edwards. It's going to help Wolves' recruitment in the summer when you have a player of his quality committed to the football club.

It’s a team that players will want to come to and hopefully it’s the start of a successful recruitment drive this summer.
