Atfer 58 games, Newcastle United's season is finally over, as Eddie Howe's squad retreat to lick their wounds from a bruising campaign that saw them fall well below their initial expectations.
It's not that the entire season has been a disaster, with some high points along the way, but such are the standards set at the club these days, that a 12th-placed Premier League finish has raised many questions over the future of this side and, indeed, the coaching team.
Howe has emerged from a testing period with the backing of the club's hierarchy and a mandate to help rebuild the squad over the summer, together with sporting director Ross Wilson and CEO David Hopkinson.
Plans are in place for advances off the pitch, and United must do a whole lot better on the recruitment side if they are to again push for Europe and silverware.

But what of the season just ended? It's easy to look back and remember only the sour times . . . those derby defeats to Sunderland, a Champions League humiliation at the hands of Barcelona, and all those leads thrown away, which ultimately cost them dearly.
However, there have been brighter spots, most notably the Champions League campaign which saw them progress to the last 16, and come within a whisker of beating Barca at St James' Park.
The two domestic cup runs were only halted by Manchester City - eventual winners in both - while although Premier League points were too often squandered, there were memorable successes over Man City, Man United and Chelsea.
Last summer's new signings had various levels of success, but perhaps only Malick Thiaw truly established himself as a first-team regular.
Nick Woltemade and Jaocb Ramsey showed enough to suggest brigher futures, but Yoane Wissa and Anthony Elanga failed to justify the £110m spent on the pair.
So who, in your opinion, stood out, and who needs to have a long, hard look in the mirror over the summer months? Here's your chance to rate the Newcastle United players out of 10 based on their contributions over the course of the season.
We've only included those who have been regulars in matchday squads - and as a first, we've included head coach Howe himself
Simply rate each player above, and we'll compile an average score.
