‘I just want to play’ - Newcastle United striker sends message to Eddie Howe before transfer…

Sean Neave played the final 13 minutes as Newcastle United lost 2-0 to Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Sean Neave is open to a loan move next season after making his Premier League debut for Newcastle United.

Defeat to Fulham proved a dismal final day but Neave’s appearance offered a silver lining to the Magpies. The Winlaton native came on for the final 13 minutes as Newcastle lost 2-0 at Craven Cottage.

Neave scored 15 goals in 21 games for the under-21s in 2025-26. He has been the standout performer at youth level for two seasons and is clamouring for more opportunities in senior football.

Sean Neave hints at loan move

“I feel like the past few years have been a really big step up for me,” Neave told BBC Radio Newcastle. “Getting on the bench a lot this season (and) obviously coming on and playing (today). Hopefully, next season, wherever it is, I can regularly play 13 football.

“That would really help me a lot - that's the milestone for next season. I just want to be playing football week in, week out like all these players are doing. Now that I've got a sniff of it and I know what it's like, I just want to be playing. Wherever it is, no matter where I am, I'm just going to do my best and just hope I can just regularly play every week.”

‘Really special’ - Sean Neave

Neave also reflected on a “special” top-flight debut for his boyhood club. He added: “It's really special for me. Obviously, I've been a boyhood fan of the club my whole life. Making my Premier League debut, along with my Champions League debut at the end of the season, it's been a really special moment for me.

“It's been really surreal. I wasn't expecting to come any time soon, so I had to come and hopefully I can have more moments like this. I had no clue. It was just quick.

“I went and warmed up and the gaffer said ‘Get ready’. Hopefully more moments like this can come. I just want to thank the gaffer and all the staff who helped me get to this point. Hearing the fans sing my name is what I used to do when I was a kid, so it meant a lot.”
