'It's a good question' - Rangers target addresses Leeds United future with Elland Road exit…

The Leeds United forward could have a Premier League option amid reported Rangers interest.

A Rangers linked striker has provided an update on his future as he prepares to head back to Leeds United.

Joe Gelhardt has spent much of the last 18 months on loan at Hull City in the English Championship and he’s helped them achieve a major feat. The striker netted 14 goals with five assists as the Tigers reached the play-offs and defeated Middlesbrough 1-0 in the final to secure Premier League placement for next season.

That has opened up a route to England’s top table for the reported Ibrox target, even if that isn’t likely to be with parent club Leeds United, as he is in the final year of his deal at Elland Road. Rangers have been linked to signing both Gelhardt and Leeds forward Joel Piroe this summer amid 49ers Enterprises owning both clubs.

Who will Joe Gelhardt sign for this summer?

It’s claimed in local media down south that ‘Gelhardt has a year left on his Whites contract, but is expected to be allowed to leave West Yorkshire this summer, and City could now look to snap him up on a permanent deal.’ When asked about a permanent deal at Hull City, he said to Hull Live: "It's a good question, isn't it?

“Let's see what happens over the summer, but it's pretty clear what I want to do. It's amazing, it feels brilliant. To get back to the Premier League with Hull City, I love the club, I'm buzzing, I'm absolutely buzzing. It just shows what can happen in 12 months. Under the situations we had, with the embargo, we were always at a disadvantage; everybody had written us off, now we've proved everyone wrong, and now we're off to the Premier League."

Head coach Sergej Jakirovic said of Hull’s summer transfer plans in conjunction with owner Acun Ilicali: "We are on the same page (with the owner), so we will try use this money very wisely. Maybe we will get an embargo again, who knows!

How much will Hull City spend in the Premier League?

"We have a nice budget and we will see. The recruitment team have a lot of big days ahead of them. The chemistry is good with the owner and he supports me and believes in me. When you have that type of support you can deliver a good result.

"We will try to add better players than we have right now. The main players who bring us to the Premier League can stay and help us, but we need to add better players as well. Sunderland are a good recipe, they add speed and dynamic players."
