Aston Villa have shown serious interest Galatasaray’s Gabriel Sara ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Premier League side followed the 26-year-old live in action last month.
On May 1st, Sport Witness covered claims from Turkey of Aston Villa’s first contact to sign the midfielder. The same source stated Unai Emery’s side need €30m to seal the operation.
The Europa League winners have made concrete advances to bring the former Norwich City man back to England.
Last week, we relayed news of the Villans making a serious offer to secure the Brazilian’s services. He’s likely to leave in the upcoming window and England would be his next destination.
Aston Villa offer backed up
Sporx report the English club are serious about bringing Gabriel Sara to Villa Park in the summer.
Journalist Evren Göz backs up Aston Villa submitting an offer to acquire the Galatasaray man’s signature.
“There is an offer from Aston Villa for Gabriel Sara! They are serious about this!” he said.
The journalist didn’t clarify whether Unai Emery’s side made an offer to Sara, his club or both. Galatasaray could include a ‘surprise swap possibility’ involving Aston Villa star Youri Tielemans.
“Galatasaray might have expectations for Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa! He’s a player Galatasaray has wanted for years,” Göz explained.
“However, the Belgian footballer has previously stated that he doesn’t want to play in Türkiye. Will the circumstances change? We’ll see!”
Therefore, Galatasaray might have to accept either a direct cash deal or ask for another Villans player as part of the Sara deal.
Aston Villa may face competition
Both Sunderland and Fulham failed to sign Gabriel Sara in the winter market. It’s unclear whether either are still keen.
Recent claims from Turkey mentioned Newcastle United as an interested party and they may challenge Aston Villa for his signature. The Magpies have to act quickly if they wish to get ahead of Unai Emery’s side in the transfer race.
The South American’s contract expires in 2029 and he’s valued at €27m by Transfermarkt. Sara managed six goals and five assists in 2,802 minutes from 42 matches this season.
