Sunderland submit offer for Nottingham Forest target – ‘Strong effort’ from Black Cats

Sunderland are ready to challenge Nottingham Forest for Fenerbahçe’s Archie Brown.

Vítor Pereira’s side have already made advances to bring him to the City Ground in the summer.

On May 1st, Sport Witness covered claims from Turkey of Nottingham Forest making a €16m official offer for Brown.

The Reds now face competition from Sunderland to try and sign the left-back. In fact, the Black Cats have also made an attempt to win the battle in the upcoming window.

Sunderland follow Nottingham Forest

That’s according to Takvim, relayed by Sporx, who cover the latest on Régis Le Bris and Nottingham Forest.

The 23-year-old is on the agenda of Nottingham Forest and Atlético Madrid, and these two clubs are closely following him.

Sunderland enter the battle for Archie Brown and have made a ‘strong effort’ to snatch him from Fenerbahçe.

The Black Cats have submitted an offer for the fullback with the Turkish club’s current management. There’s no mention of the fee offered but Takvim insists the Süper Lig side won’t make the final decision until their new management is in place.

Fenerbahçe have confirmed a presidential election will take place on June 6-7th.

The group winning the election will then decide on whether or not to accept Sunderland’s offer for the Englishman. They would also evaluate Nottingham Forest’s reported bid of €16m.

Brown is a product of Derby County’s youth system and left them as a free agent without making a first team appearance.

He joined Lausanne-Sport for free in July 2021 and then moved to KAA Gent in August 2023. Last summer, the Belgian club sold the defender to Fenerbahçe.

Operating mainly as a left-back, he’s managed five goals and seven assists from 38 games for the Istanbul club.

Contract, value and agent info

In the summer, Archie Brown will have two years left on his contract, with an option for another year.

Transfermarkt value him at €12m and agency Epic Sports Football are representing the fullback.
