“We are moving forward” – Bournemouth loanee signals permanent transfer is close

Bournemouth’s Luis Sinisterra now appears closer than ever to completing a permanent move to Cruzeiro, with the winger himself strongly hinting that negotiations are entering the final stages.

Just weeks ago, the Brazilian side had internally moved away from triggering the previously agreed purchase structure because of concerns over injuries, availability and overall value.

However, the situation has shifted dramatically since manager Artur Jorge replaced Tite in March.

The Colombian has gradually rebuilt momentum after returning from injury in April. He has now featured in Cruzeiro’s last five matches, started the last two and scored in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Chapecoense.

Speaking in the press zone at Mineirão Stadium, the winger sounded grateful.

“I am very happy, I will first thank God for allowing me to play, for allowing me to enjoy good health. And I thank the team, the staff. It was a beautiful goal, a very beautiful play by the team and I just finished it in the best way”, he said.

“The work continues during the weeks, we have a very important game, and now it’s about recovering well to have an excellent game.”

Sinisterra drops biggest hint yet

And as relayed by local outlet O Tempo, Sinisterra suggested that an agreement is now close.

“The coaching staff have always shown confidence in me and I’m very happy here. We are moving forward with that.”

“Everything is aligned. I think it will be decided in the next few days. And I want to stay, of course.”

O Tempo report that Cruzeiro and Bournemouth are currently discussing final contractual details, including payment structure and contract length.

Questions over purchase structure remain

There are still uncertainties surrounding the exact mechanics of the deal.

Previous reporting in Brazil stated Cruzeiro had already paid €2.5m (£2.1m) for the initial loan. The agreement also included a mandatory €3.5m (£3m) payment for 50% of the player’s rights if sporting targets were met.

Yet those reported targets continue to raise questions. Before this recent run, Sinisterra’s production had been relatively modest because of injuries. Across 23 official appearances for Cruzeiro, he has scored three goals.

Now, though, the context looks different. The winger says he is finally feeling physically stronger and more confident.

“The minutes show that. Every day I feel more confident in the way I play. There is still a lot missing before I reach my full level, but I have to keep working every day.”

“It was a very beautiful moment for me [scoring]. I felt the support of the fans. They are always there supporting me. It’s the least I can do. I still have much more to show of my abilities, I’m getting better every day and that’s it, just keep going.”

For Bournemouth, the outlook has changed again alongside that improvement. What once looked like a likely return to England is now increasingly pointing towards a permanent stay in Brazil.
