AS Roma’s Matias Soule has been linked with a move to Aston Villa and Unai Emery’s side are still trying to push.
Sport Witness have covered how initial contact has been made between the attacker’s entourage and the Birmingham club. Bournemouth were also interested but the Villans appeared more advanced in the chase.
It was believed Soule is one of the main candidates to leave Roma, who were dealing with financial issues
Gasperini can sell Soule
Il Messaggero report Soule’s situation has ‘completely changed’ in recent months. At one point, he felt like a centre of the project but his struggles in 2026 have brought doubts about his future.
Aston Villa have ‘no intention of stopping’ their hunt and Gian Piero Gasperini won’t mind Soule’s exit. He is frustrated with how the 23-year-old has picked up muscle injuries and hasn’t impacted the flow of games enough. Generally, there’s less patience with young players in Italy than England.
Roma’s current demand stands at €35m. They are hoping Unai Emery’s side come forward and offer something like that. The manager, specifically, is believed to be a big fan of the Argentine.
Soule himself is waiting to learn his fate. He finds himself in uncertainty and everything will depend on how much suitors offer.
Deal could prove to be a bargain
Even if Soule has faced physical problems, his quality can’t be questioned. He has contributed to at least ten league goals for two clubs in the last three Serie A seasons. He can also help positions, naturally being a number ten.
This makes him an asset for Aston Villa, who like players that are a threat on the break. Soule is quick and nifty in one v one situations, boasting a very reliable left-foot. He is unpredictable and very good in tight spaces.
Signing him for €35m can prove to be an excellent deal.
