Eintracht Frankfurt are in negotiations over a new deal for Nottingham Forest striker Arnaud Kalimuendo, as they look to avoid paying the purchase price in his loan.
BILD report on the 24-year-old today and explain that Eintracht Frankfurt director of football Markus Krösche is already working on the transfer.
Eintracht won’t use purchase option
The newspaper explains that Krösche negotiated a purchase option with Nottingham Forest for the striker when he joined on loan in the January transfer window.
However, Eintracht Frankfurt have no intention of exercising it. They do not consider €27m as feasible for Arnaud Kalimuendo at this moment in time.
That’s due to their current financial situation, and the fact they don’t have European competition bringing in extra money next season.
But that doesn’t mean they don’t want to keep the striker. In fact, Krösche ‘continues to fight’ for the transfer. It appears he’s going to repeat what he did with Leeds.
BILD have learned that he and Eintracht Frankfurt are in talks with Nottingham Forest about the striker returning. This comes after reports in England that Forest have decided to sell the striker this summer.
As a result, the ‘lines of communication’ between the two clubs are now buzzing again. As they were during the January transfer window.
Nottingham Forest negotiations
Eintracht’s position is clear. They cannot afford the €27m they previous agreed. The German side would prefer any package to not exceed €20m. Even that would be pushing it, though.
“We have to concentrate our investments,” Krösche recently explained. He also made it clear, however: “If we are convinced by a player, we want to be able to spend a bit more.”
Ultimately, the transfer will depend on Nottingham Forest. They will undoubtedly want to recover as much of the €30m they spent last summer as possible. Eintracht already paid a €1.5m loan fee for this season.
As a result, Eintracht Frankfurt do not expect a quick agreement. In fact, it seems they expect the matter to rumble on for a while.
One positive for them, though, is that Kalimuendo can envision staying with the club next season. That gives them an advantage in negotiations with Nottingham Forest.
