The 2025/26 Premier League season has finished so the transfer rumour mill has started with Everton being linked with a move for West Ham United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

A report in the Daily Telegraph claims that the Blues have targeted Wan-Bissaka in a £10million deal as clubs circle around the Hammers following their relegation from the Premier League on Sunday, when ironically Everton’s 1-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur ensured Nuno Espirito Santo’s side’s 3-0 win over Leeds United was in vain.

The article says the east London outfit need to raise around £150million in player sales to balance the books, with relegation alone costing the club £100million with captain Jarrod Bowen and Mateus Fernandes both expected to leave.

Back on January 30, when speaking in his pre-match press conference to preview the game at Brighton & Hove Albion the next day, Blues boss David Moyes admitted: “We’ve been actively looking for a right-back for over a year.”

Despite this, Nathan Patterson, who has been picked for Scotland’s World Cup squad but is deemed surplus to requirements at Hill Dickinson Stadium, came close to joining Genoa on transfer deadline day of the winter window while club captain Seamus Coleman made his 435th and final appearance for Everton at Spurs after over 17 years of service at the club.

Since his return to Goodison Park in January last year, Moyes has predominantly used Jake O’Brien, a 6ft 6in natural centre-back in the right-back berth but despite the experiment having initially proven successful, opponents have increasingly targeted the Republic of Ireland international who has struggled in recent weeks. Wan-Bissaka, 28, moved from Crystal Palace to Manchester United in 2019 for £50million but struggled to live up to his price tag at Old Trafford.

He returned to the capital in 2024 when he joined West Ham United, shortly after Moyes’ exit, for £15million and penned a seven-year deal. The Croydon-born player is part of DR Congo’s World Cup squad after switching allegiance last year despite turning out for England Under-21s and being called up at full international level without being capped.

However, despite this speculation and Everton’s need for a right-back as a matter of priority, the ECHO understands that the Blues are not actively pursuing Wan-Bissaka at this moment in time.
