Dedicated travel announced for Sunderland supporters ahead of Europa League games

Pre-registration for fans opens today, with the travel agent also putting on dedicated coach travel for the games in Europe.

Sunderland secured qualification for next season's Europa League thanks to a 2-1 victory over Chelsea at the Stadium of Light on the final day.

Sunderland have qualified directly for the league phase of the competition, which will get underway in September and will see the Black Cats play eight fixtures - four home and four away.

And Hays Travel will be putting on dedicated flights and coaches for the away games, which will be escorted by colleagues to support fans on their travels.

Dame Irene Hays said: “We regularly charter dedicated escorted travel for our customers and have done so for sports fixtures before; including arranging flights and coaches to matches in Kiev, Monaco and Barcelona.

“At this early stage we cannot confirm travel and accommodation details, and there are obviously no tickets included in the packages. What we can confirm is that fans who pre-register with us will receive the information on flights and any other details as soon as dates and match destinations become available.”

Pre-registration is available HERE.

The Europa League league phase is made of 36 teams, who will be split into four pots of nine.

At this stage, the exact nature of who will end up in which pot is unknown, but given their lack of European coefficient points, it is likely that Sunderland will be in either pot three or pot four.

Sunderland will not play the same team twice, nor will be they drawn with another English team. They will play two matches against pot one teams (home and away), and two against teams from pots two, three and four respectively. The draw for the league phase will take place on August 28.
