Leeds United attacker drops huge hint that transfer exit is imminent

Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt enjoyed an incredible loan spell at Hull City this season, earning promotion via the playoff final.

The Whites have plenty of transfer decisions to make this summer regarding outbound players. Those returning from loans are unlikely to be part of the long-term plans. And, fetching significant fees would be a great boost.

Most likely to be leaving the club is Joe Gelhardt. The 24-year-old is in the final year of his deal from July onwards, and has just helped Hull City claim promotion to the Premier League.

Hull City’s dramatic playoff final victory against Middlesbrough seals their return to the top flight. And with it surely comes further talks to secure Gelhardt’s permanent stay at the MKM Stadium.

His 15 goals and four assists throughout his Championship loan are a major reason Sergej Jakirovic upset the odds to gain promotion.

Tigers sporting director Jarred Dublin already suggested that a deal would be a foregone conclusion on the basis of Hull going up and Leeds also staying up. Now, the forward himself has dropped the biggest hint yet.

Sharing a profane reaction to promotion on Instagram, his comments have been filled with Hull fans and teammates.

Included is fellow Wigan Athletic graduate Kyle Joseph, who commented the iconic GIF of Mike Tyson shouting “sign the contract big boy” – Gelhardt liked the comment and another saying he wants to join permanently:

Joe Gelhardt’s Leeds United transfer exit is surely imminent after latest hint

Even if Hull stayed down, I’d have wagered they would have made a big play to sign Gelhardt from us. Alas, that’s not an issue anymore.

Now they’ve been bestowed with the riches of the Premier League, I can’t see anything else happening.

Not only do Hull have the money to afford his wage demands and pay the fee, but Gelhardt wants it more than anything. And, he’s right to want that move.

He’s been treated pretty poorly after his breakout at Leeds in 21/22. So, joining Hull allows him to progress towards being the player we all thought he could be at Elland Road.

The hope is just that they pay handsomely to sign him.
