Newcastle United remain in talks with Bayern Munich over the potential sale of Anthony Gordon this summer.

However, despite reports in Germany, 29-year-old goalkeeper Alexander Nubel has NOT been included in any discussions over a possible makeweight deal so far.

Chronicle Live understands that the Bayern stopper - who has been on loan to Stuttgart in the last two campaigns - is not currently being considered in any type of swap plus cash deal.

It is believed that Nubel is not a name put to Newcastle during the negotiations, suggesting that the Magpies will hold out for their valuation on Gordon.

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl said over the weekend: "We agree that we will sign an attacking player if he is affordable.

"We had a very good discussion and hope that we can make progress."

Newcastle's transfer policy is set to be that stars will only be sold on United's terms, and no makeweights that suit the selling club will be considered.

What is true is that Newcastle are in the market for a new goalkeeper, with a final decision to be made on Aaron Ramsdale soon.

One stopper that the Magpies are keeping an eye on is Ewen Jaouen of Reims. The 20-year-old is on Newcastle's watch list and Chronicle Live understands that the 6ft 6in stopper has interested the Magpies.

But sources close to the player say that no deal has been agreed yet and talk of Jaouen visiting Benton earlier this month was dismissed.

Jaouen has made 35 appearances this season in Ligue 2 for Reims, conceding 35 goals and having 15 clean sheets. But there is also interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion who have both been in the stands to take a look at the youngster.

Jaouen has a contract until 2029 and his representatives believe they have a number of options on the table for his services.

However, those close to the player have stressed that he is still young and very much in the development stage of his career which indicates Newcastle are looking at the future and the present moment.
