Manchester United ended the 2025-26 campaign on a hugely positive note after securing a third-place finish in the Premier League table.
With the season now officially over, attention will quickly shift to a massive summer rebuild ahead of the new campaign.
However, before deciding which new stars should arrive at Old Trafford, United must first make several huge decisions regarding the futures of the current squad.
Keep
Senne Lammens – The 23-year-old arguably turned out to be the smartest signing of the summer despite the spotlight falling on the attacking stars.
While Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha grabbed headlines with double-digit goals, Lammens quietly became the unsung hero of the campaign.
Tom Heaton – The 40-year-old is one of the leaders in the dressing room and received glowing praise from Casemiro in a recent interview.
Noussair Mazraoui – He is one of the most dependable players in the squad and could also be used at centre-back or left-back in an injury crisis.
Diogo Dalot – Dalot continues to be one of the most underrated yet important players at the club.
Leny Yoro – It was a mixed season for Yoro, but the flashes of elite talent were impossible to ignore.
Ayden Heaven – Heaven was unfortunate to receive limited minutes throughout the campaign. With United returning to the Champions League next season, he deserves significantly greater involvement in the squad rotation.
Lisandro Martinez – When fully fit, Martinez remains one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League.
Harry Maguire – He is a key defender and an important leader in the dressing room. It was the right decision to hand him a new contract.
Matthijs de Ligt – The Dutch defender recently underwent back surgery and will miss the opening weeks of next season.
Luke Shaw – After years of devastating injury setbacks, Shaw produced a remarkable marathon season in 2025-26.
Patrick Dorgu – Dorgu is a crucial utility player with enormous potential.
Mason Mount – Many fans would disagree but his versatility could be very useful in a packed new campaign.
Kobbie Mainoo – He recently signed a new five-year contract, and next season could elevate him into genuine world-class territory.
Tyler Fletcher – His debut under Michael Carrick felt like only the beginning of a very exciting journey.
Benjamin Sesko – Sesko enjoyed a superb first season at Old Trafford and immediately justified the hype surrounding his arrival.
Chido Obi – He spent last season with the youth teams to focus on his development. He should be given a chance in domestic cup games to prove his talent.
Bryan Mbeumo – He finished the season as the joint-top scorer despite enduring a brutal 12-game goal drought during the campaign.
Matheus Cunha – A fabulous player. He can still take the next step to become one of the best in the division.
Amad Diallo – The next campaign feels absolutely crucial for his long-term future at the club. It is now or never for Diallo.
Loan
Diego Leon – Leon remains extremely raw and inexperienced at this stage of his development. A loan spell in League One or League Two could be an eye-opener for the teenager.
Jack Fletcher – He possesses huge long-term potential and remains one of the brightest academy prospects.
Sell
Altay Bayindir – Bayindir simply has not shown enough quality to justify remaining at Man United.
Andre Onana – Onana enjoyed a positive end to his loan spell at Trabzonspor, which may have significantly increased his market value.
This could be the perfect moment for United to cash in.
Tyler Fredricson – Fredricson is talented, but United must focus on keeping only players with genuine top-level potential.
Toby Collyer – Struggled with injuries on loan and United should seriously consider selling him if a strong offer arrives this summer.
Manuel Ugarte – What initially looked like a perfect transfer on paper simply failed to work out.
A summer exit now feels increasingly inevitable after his struggles to adapt to Premier League football.
Marcus Rashford – Rashford will always remain an important figure in modern United history. However, the time now feels right for both parties to move on permanently.
Joshua Zirkzee – He is an immensely gifted technical forward with outstanding natural ability. Unfortunately, his profile and playing style simply do not appear to suit the demands of this United side.
