Eliezer Mayenda’s Sunderland future is under fresh scrutiny after a recent social media post from his agent
Eliezer Mayenda is reportedly expected to leave Sunderland this summer amid growing transfer speculation around the forward.
The 21-year-old has played an important role in Sunderland’s rise over the last two seasons, helping the Black Cats win promotion back to the Premier League before contributing during their successful return to the top flight. Mayenda made 23 appearances in all competitions during the 2025-26 campaign, scoring twice in the Premier League. His future has now come under fresh scrutiny after his agent, Alfonso Stellitano, posted on social media from the Stadium of Light with the caption: “The Last Dance” while tagging Sunderland, Mayenda and the Premier League.
Foot Mercato has since claimed that Mayenda is expected to leave Sunderland this summer, with several ambitious European clubs said to be monitoring his situation ahead of the transfer window. The report states that Mayenda’s performances and career path have “caught the eye” after a season in which Sunderland secured historic Europa League qualification. The former Sochaux academy graduate is described as one of the attacking prospects to watch, with his age, potential and Premier League exposure making him an attractive option.
Mayenda joined Sunderland from Sochaux in 2023 and has made 73 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals. His breakthrough contribution came during the 2024-25 promotion campaign, when he scored 10 times in 42 appearances across all competitions.
He has since stepped up into Premier League football, making 20 league appearances and scoring two goals as Sunderland finished seventh. While he was not always a regular starter, his pace, versatility and work-rate made him a useful attacking option for Régis Le Bris.
Sunderland are preparing for a significant summer as they plan for both Premier League and Europa League football. Mayenda remains under contract, but the latest claims suggest his future could become one of the situations to watch as interest builds.
The Black Cats have repeatedly shown they are willing to make firm decisions in the transfer market when they believe the timing is right. Mayenda’s development, age and profile mean Sunderland would be expected to protect their position if any exit materialises.
